Project Reporting Mode
To enter project reporting mode, first make
sure that the "Mark Project Location" button
is selected in the upper right hand corner,
under "Map Mode".
As the first step in creating a project
report, you first need to mark your project on
the map. Once you have navigated to the
location you're interested in, just click on a
point on the map. A tiny red dot shows up on
the map, and the "Produce Report" is activated
(as indicated by the cyan color for the
button).
If you decide to pick another point for the
project location, before you click on the
"Produce Report" button again, just click on
the map for the new location. You can do this
as many times as you want.
Once you are satisfied with the final project
location point, click the "Produce Report"
button; a new window pops up, that enables you
to begin report generation. Also notice that
the point on the map changes from a tiny red
dot to a red star, indicating that you have
committed the project location in the
database.
The new window that pops up activates the
report generation tool. This tool enables you
to determine which of the three types of
military layers your project point actually
intersects with. The new window lets you
choose between several buffer sizes around
your project point, that is used to determine
if it intersects the various boundary layers.
Once you have decided on your buffer size,
click on the "Generate Report!" button to
create your report. Notice that the map image
now shows a red translucent circle around your
buffer point, that shows the actual buffer
used in this analysis.
In the generated report, thumbnail images at
the state and the county levels are shown. The
project location, is displayed in
degrees-minutes-seconds longitude/latitude
format.
If your project point intersects with one of
the three types of military layers, a
thumbnail is shown that illustrates how the
point falls under one of the three military
layers, along with a brief explanation as to
how the project location intersects with the
layer.
