Navigation Mode
To navigate around the map, first make sure
that the "Navigate" button is selected in the
upper right hand corner, under "Map Mode".
You can pan around in the map interface using
any of the eight arrow buttons in the map
frame surrounding the map. You can also pan by
clicking on the map itself, and dragging the
map to the desired location.
You can zoom in and zoom out using the ten
slider bar items on the upper left hand corner
of the map. The leftmost slider bar
corresponds to the most zoomed out extent;
click on this slider bar to zoom out to
California extents. The rightmost slider bar,
on the other hand, corresponds to the most
zoomed in extent.
Notice that the two rightmost slider bar items
are grouped next to the "Photo" button. This
means that, if you are navigating at the zoom
levels corresponding to these two slider bars,
the Photo button is activated (as indicated by
the cyan color for the button), so that you
can toggle between a map and a photo backdrop.
